Major League Baseball’s average salary increased by 1.4% last year, reaching a record $4.7 million, according to the players’ association. This is the smallest increase since the average dropped for four straight seasons before 2022. The average rose 2.9% in 2024 after increases of 7.2% in 2023 and 14.8% in 2022. The average has risen 28.3% in the first four seasons of the current labor deal. Union figures are based on 2025 salaries, bonuses and prorated shares for 1,046 players. MLB has not yet finalized its 2025 average, which may differ slightly due to methodology.
