The Cavs’ championship quest will begin against the Toronto Raptors.
Despite a high probability of facing the Atlanta Hawks going into Sunday, the Toronto Raptors leapfrogged Atlanta and claimed the Eastern Conference’s fifth seed on a frenzied final day of the regular season.
It sets up a 4-5 showdown that opens in Cleveland at some point this weekend.
Toronto crushed the Brooklyn Nets while the Hawks, who chose to rest all of their regulars, lost to the Miami Heat.
Even though Toronto and Atlanta both finished with a 46-36 record, the Raptors held the head-to-head tiebreaker as a result of a regular-season series sweep.
The Cavs lost all three games to the Raptors earlier this season — each one coming months before Cleveland fortified its roster at the trade deadline.
Game 1 of the best of seven series is Saturday in Cleveland at 1pm.
